Sycamore Sentinel

Oil on masonite, 6" x 8"

This is another workshop demonstration where we went again to the mill stream. This gracious sycamore stood out from all the rest standing as a sentinel among the wild phlox. I loved it!

Secret Stream

Here the mill stream, hidden from view, wends it's way through a woodsy area. I was particularly attracted to the shaft of light coming down the hill illuminating the plants and trees.

Mountain View

landscape, oil on masonite, 6"x8"

This is small demonstration from a workshop I gave in Virginia back in May. This is on a farm looking southeast toward the Blue Ridge Mountains. The elegant house was built about 150 years ago and overlooks this fantastic view. I love the contrast of the colors with the pale blue mountain.

OLD MILL STREAM
landscape, oil on masonite, 8" x 6"

This painting was a plein air demonstration at a workshop in Virginia this summer. I loved the way the sycamore tree looks like it is growing right out of the water, (which it is) and all the dappled light around it.
